Wait an Island formed naturally off the coast of Iceland. In 1960… Awesome!

I wonder though why no humans are allowed to access it. The name of the island is Surtsey

I became interested in this island by reading an article about natural world wonders protected by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN)

I don’t want to sound like an anti-worldite, but seriously… Seems more like they have someone else’s interest in mind. Why else preserve so many pristine world sites? Perhaps after a nuclear holocaust or health holocaust the world leaders will have a healthy and safe harbor?

What do I base this on?

Absolutely nothing but my gut feeling.
