WHO WHO WHO… Wants to be a canceraire?

Got damn I love the WHO almost as much as I love the band… It turns out that more people die from heart disease, infectious diseases and cancer, more than all other deaths…

And I was just talking about something similar today with a coworker. I was telling her how, a few weeks ago, I was talking with a cousin of mine and she was telling me that modern medicine was good because people live longer. I of course argued that there is no proof that medicine makes everyone on earth live longer, in fact, I believe there is more evidence to the contrary. For instance, my father. He was diagnosed with Congestive heart failure about eight years ago. Since then he has nearly died twice, lost incredible amounts of weight and is basically limited to eating carrots for sustenance. The losing weight isn’t the worst part as he now has developed diabetes. Diabetes brought on by his heart medications.

Of course the doctors deny this is the reason. But strangely no one in his family has ever had diabetes. Cancer. But no diabetes.

So where am I going with this afternoon rant?

How is modern medicine such a good thing when the largest industry in the US is health care? If everyone is better why are they taking so much medicine? Is there a cure?

My mom and I were talking yesterday. She was concerned about the recent radiation test her doctor recommended, and subsequently submitted to taking. Her concern was that she will now get cancer. It was then I asked her how many people in her family have had cancer. She thought for a moment… and she came up with one aunt (by marriage).

I tried to make her feel better by explaining she most likely will not get cancer from this treatment as her genetics and upbringing built a strong body. All well water, all home raised meats and produce, my mom is born to a long LONG line of farmers.

My dad was an army brat, an identical twin, and traveled the world eating nothing but military rations and taking military medicines.

All of my fathers family that have passed away have died of some sort of cancer or disease.

Building blocks.

You are what you eat is more than eating what THEY feed you in the supermarkets.

It is more than adding color to your plate or eating your radiated lettuce…

It is real ingredients that have been yielded by hard work, and homegrown heirloom and organic seed.
